Hi everyone, I’m Chuck, from Montreal, Canada. Just singed up to OTF and already liking it.

Here’s my little bio. I learnt poker playing dimes and quarter five card draw with friends as a teenager, esrly 20’s (just turend 36, hence the “81” in my username). It was for fun really casual. Then in the early 2000’s i switched to nlhe. But it wasn’t untill 2008 that I really got a crush for the game. I used to play pool, and I still remember, it was a Wednesday of September in the afternoon, I was praticing my pool drills in a poolhall and I saw that hand written cardboard sing announcing a $20 buy-in poker tournament starting at 7pm that night. I said to myself “cool, since I sometime played poker with friends, it could be fun to try that tourney, I might come back next week… oh wait, i’m free tonight… let’s stay and play then!” And that was pretty much the start of all that.
I started to watch tournament coverages on youtube, poker after dark and hsp, began to learn and follow poker pros. I started to play online, I got into a friendly league, learnt a lot, started to read books after books, just because i was passionate about poker, I was going to bed at night thinking 100% poker.
I started to play live cash game around 2009. Now fast forward to 2012ish, when I was playing less often and less regularly live, but i was still playing online, multitabling microstakes, went from 2NL to 25NL with my first $30 deposit, but I never got through 25NL, got a massive downswing, stepped down to 16NL, and even 10NL, couldn’t win a single hand for years, really, i was tilting super easily (which was a skill I had since the beginning; it was super hard to make me tilt) lost motivation, and even love of the game πŸ™
Been to Vegas in summer of 2013, it was super awesome! Ended up my trip as a winner. I barely played in 2014, and I got in a relationship in early 2015, and I just didn’t have time to play anymore. Maybe a couple times a year and that’s it.
My passion for poker ignited back maybe last year, I started watching poker vlogs, first the trooper, then neeme, then pokerkraut, then another one and another one… it’s simple, i’m now following about ten of those vlogs, a day or two away from youtube, and i got a couple hours to catch up, lol

So the last updates are : since I got a little change in my schedule, I now have the opportunity to set a “poker day” in my weekly schedule. So, I’d like to go play (live) if not once a week, at least a few times a month. That “new schedule” started last week.

Oh I forgot to tell what games i play. 1/2NL (like a lot of people). I also enjoy plo, but I don’t get lots of occasions to play it live. I actually love all the poker games (the only ones I haven’t played are badeucey and badacey).

Props if you read it all, I’m unstoppable when it comes to poker talk πŸ™‚
Looking forward to share hands with you, discuss strategies and stuff
    Cheers!

Chuck, welcome to the forum. How is the cash game scene in Montreal vs. Ottawa? Is French spoken at the table in Montreal? How many casinos offer a poker room in Montreal?

    Hey thanks Quicker πŸ˜‰
I’ve never played in the Ottawa area, I’d be curious. Do you go play at the Lac Leamy Casino some times? Never been there either but I probably will eventually.

Yeah in Montreal, I would say it’s pretty much 50/50 of french/english (at the same table even). As far as I know at least.
There are three poker rooms that I know of. There’s the Montreal casino, the playground (awesome place to go), and there’s a new place that opened recently called the palace pokerclub, which I haven’t been to yet. This one is pretty close to the playground. There’s not a lot of games rolling, but that might be because the place is still new.

What about Ottawa? Is there several places that offer poker?

From what I gather, Ottawa is the top city in Canada to live. Considering a move to this city hoping there are good venue(s) for NLH cash games.
