HanParticipantIt was my first orbit at the table when I got involved with this hand. Villain in the hand is a nice guy, and he was getting ready to leave and had his chips all in the rack. He said he was going to play till his button. I used a bit of this info in my betting decision. Just goes to show, people give off more information than they think.
Hero stack: 500
Hero hand: 96hh
Hero position: BTNVillain stack: 350
Villain hand: KJhd
Villain position: BBPreflop:
4 limps to hero, hero limps, SB completes, villain makes it 5 more, everyone callsFlop: Kd 4h 8h
Pot: 56
SB checks, villain bets25, folds to hero, hero calls, SB foldsTurn: Jh
Pot: 106
villain checks, hero bets 50, villain callsRiver: 2s
Pot: 206
villain checks, hero bets 75, villain tank-callsPot juicer raises are interesting. Its almost like a bomb-pot. I’ve seen enough Stones-Live to get an idea on how to approach this type of multi-way bloated pot: proceed with extreme caution.
When villain bet out into everyone, it looked very strong. I thought he must have a King here. When it folded to me, I guessed no one else had a heart in their hand, and thought the deck may be filled with hearts, giving me a good chance of hitting the flush.
When villain check the turn, I really thought my flush was good. I bet out looking for value from top-pair hands. Didn’t think he had a top-two here. He thought about it for a second and called. I know he has a hand here, because he was getting ready to leave, but he’s involved in a hand and he has one.
I was hoping the river did not bring another heart, and a beautiful blank came. I knew my flush was good, when villain checked to me. I had lost track of the pot watching the river card come and waiting for villains action. I took a minute remember how much was in the pot, and went for thin value, targeting Top-pair.
Villain took a long while to think about it and asked for more time. Its the first time we’ve seen eachother and I just made a small bet. I’m going to guess that he factored those in. He tanked long enough, such that:
1) I’m convinced now my flush is good
2) I want to call the clock, but I’m not that asshole
3) Don’t rack up and play a hand. Rack up and leave-

ParticipantNot much to say here. Pretty standard hand. One trick I use if I’m not sure of the pot size is that if you double the last bet, that’s usually around half pot. You’re turn bet was $50, and that brought the pot to about $200. A $100 bet would have been around half pot. But it seems like $75 was a good bet since he tank called, not sure how much more value you would have gotten unless you were going for a over-bet to rep a bluff.
