I had shaken my bluff attempt off and checked in with myself, telling myself to play better. I topped off to 100BB and was nearly back to even at this point. I felt a little better about my failed bluff and was playing ok, until this hand was dealt.
The main villain in this hand had just got to the table. I did not notice at the time, because I was playing distracted poker like an idiot, that he was playing every hand he was dealt and was limping calling a lot. Ofcoarse I only observed it, after I got involved in this hand with him.
Hero Stack: 480
Hero hand: Q10 dd
Hero position: UTG2Villain Stack: 400
Villain hand: Q6o
Villain position: BtnPreflop:
UTG open shoves for 23, hero raises to 60, Villain calls 60Flop: Q64 hhc
Hero bets 40, villain rasies to 120, hero shoves, villain callsTurn: 6x
River: Ax
I dont know what I was thinking at this point. I just had the impulse to isolate UTG for some reason and thought that if I raise over the top, I’d be able to isolate him. V1 cold calls me, and I didnt know what to think. I had been distracted when he came to the table and did not take note how many hands he was playing.
I thought the flop saved me, and I wanted to build a side pot. I down bet, trying to keep him in. When he raised, I thought he did this because he thinks my flop bet was weak. I announce all-in wanting to take the pot down, right then and there. I had rep a very strong hand preflop, he had to fold here I thought. He throws in the single chip for a call to my dismay!
And to make matters worst, he shows Q6 offsuit. Cold calling a big raise preflop and losing the hand completely stunned me. I was at lost for words. I tried very hard not to show it, but he tilted me that hand.
I couldn’t reach for my second bullet fast enough. I was out for blood and bought in for the max this time. I started playing very loose, opening very wide with hands such as J8o from early. And raising his limp any time I had a hand I thought was stronger than his range. I even called him down with a 4. I managed to get 150 back from him, but I had to compete with the other players at the table. I was getting nowhere pretty fast and I knew the table can tell. Especially this fat asain kid that commented that I was going after this dude.
