I got taken to value-town in this hand. This was actually my first experience facing a value-bet. Usually, players are I’m up against are trying to get me to fold, or I dont make a hand where they can get me to call a value bet. Please let me know your thoughts on my line and the villains line.

    Hero stack: 350
    Hero hand: AQd
    Hero position: MP

    Villainn stack: 900
    Villain hand: 55
    Villain position: UTG2

    Preflop:
Villian opens to 13, hero calls, btn calls, blinds fold

    Pot: 39
    Flop: 4 5 Q r
Villain checks, hero bets 25, BTN folds, villain calls

    Pot: ~90
    Turn: 7d
Villain checks, hero bets 45, villain calls

    Pot: 180
    River: 9s
Villain leads for 95, hero tank-calls

I had some history with this player, and he can mix it up. He once called my raise with 72s and won a small pot from me. I’ve seen him 3bet with 57d and smash the river. He’s very lucky in my opinion, but hard to know what hand he has.

His bet on the river, during the hand, looked so suspicious to me. I only have a pair here. I know how wide he could be, and curiosity got the better of me.

I’ll be honest, losing to a value-bet is harder to deal with than a suck-out. Losing to a value-bet makes me feel dumb.
