Hello, I went to play yesterday and here’s a hand.
It happened pretty early in the game, new table, started since about 10-15 minutes.2 limps in mp
HJ (60-65yo $100 stack) iso to $10
BTN (20-25yo, looks like he’s played once or twice before, pretty loose passive, $50 stack) calls
ME, on the SB, I find AKo and I decided to put in a 3bet squeeze. I raise to 35 (I know I should go more around 40-50). I thought 35 would do the job, but they both call.Flop (105)
J99What would you do here??
I elected on a check. Mister HJ shoved for what looks like 60, young man snap-puts his 3 or 4 remaining red chips in, and it comes back to us…
Is this a standard swing and a miss and we fold?
Or is it a call?(I don’t feel there are lots of 9’s (if any) in their ranges)
Thanks

Your 3bet was standard but in this particular situation, u should make it around 40-50 try to induce the 100$ to shove. Happy to gamble 100$ with AK here for sure. The guy on the BTN, I got no clue why he called anyway, it FOLD or SHOVE situation for him. Yeah about the flop, there no decision at all in this situation Chuck, this hand should be auto play whatever the flop come out u never check here, it automatic all-in for u. I call it SITUATION POKER (poker de situation) whatever will be will be. GL Chuck10/24/2017 at 4:30 pm #1706Chuck MParticipantHey Luong, thanks for the answer 🙂
On the flop, yeah, I wasn’t really sure what to do since I miss… I put the older man on something like AJ+, JJ, QQ, (even if I would expect him to shove pf with QQ+)… I don’t really know, on that flop, I’m not even sure he shoves TT, since there’s the overcard, I guess he would’ve check-called, maybe.. but I don’t know for sure, he might push TT, 88, or even A5s, it there was a flush draw (I don’t remember if there was, it’s possible).
To make it short, I thought I was behind, I had to hit a pair to win, and didn’t think I had 6 outs, probably 4-5, and maybe half of those weren’t even good…
I’ll tell more if there’s more answers, since I saw a showdown.
10/24/2017 at 7:52 pm #1707LaurensParticipantimo you can go even bigger pre. but 40-50 seems standard. on the flop I think I would fold, since you can’t be ahead of the All-in and the call with ace high. A better way to play this hand ( or to try to take the pot) is shuffing when you are to act on the flop, or even better, shuffing pre

It goes the same way as luong’s and it makes sense11/17/2017 at 7:46 am #1862Matt KewenigParticipantWith opponents stack size I think I just commit to shove on board like this and live with pocket pair calling and hope to catch on 2 cards left. I’d even consider just shoving pre but that may fold out AQ, AJ lower pocket pairs you want to see flops with. At 1/2 live I’ve almost tried to stop leveling myself by putting these people on such tight ranges. People show up with all kinds of shit at this level also refuse to fold preflop if they have any money already in the pot. How’d it play out?
11/17/2017 at 8:43 pm #1865Steven YoungParticipantBigger raise preflop but your raise wasn’t too bad either. Could consider just open jaming with so little money behind.
Flop could go either way. C bet would be the best and then it is an easy call if they both shove.
As it was played: The short stack is pretty much commited either way. I think it is fine to call. AK is pretty strong here you will have 6 outs most of the time and good odds for the call.11/18/2017 at 2:05 pm #1874Chuck MParticipantthanks for the answers guys.
I folded, blank on the turn, ace on the river.
younger guy showd AK, and the older one mucked.
I would’ve chopped, but I had the feeling I had to hit… well maybe the guy mucked AQ, KQ, or AT kindof hands after all…and yeah, in retrospect, I guess i should’ve lead the flop, or shove pf.
11/30/2017 at 3:32 pm #2002Kristian CostanzoParticipantI like a $65 bet pre. $45 standard bit in this case we want to commit the short stacks pre and ourselves pre and post. Then just open shove any flop.
