2-5 with 1350 behind. Im utg, largest stack is the BB who is a 5-10 pro waiting for the table to open. Played a few times with him and he loves the big bets, rarely see him make less then half pot bets and normally its atleast 80 percent pot bets with nuts or draws, can be tricky.

So anyways i’m utg and look down at 7’s and make its 20, fold to the hj who calls and the button calls, bb who is the large stack pro 3 bets to 65, I call and button calls.

Flop comes A-7-3 rainbow, shockingly the bb checks, i decide to put out a bet of 105 into 220ish. Button folds and bb calls.

Turn is a K, this card obviously isn’t ideal, he would probably check call the flop with kings where as a hand like a-k he leads the flop imo.

He checks, so i check back. Maybe this is nitty and I should fire again.

River is a 9 with no back doors getting there. He leads for 310. What do you do here? I still have about 1150 behind. I ended up flatting and he said your probably good, just an ace. I showed my set and scoop the pot.

Did I miss value or play this too nitty?

    Thanks for any input

I don’t mind the check back on the turn, for pot control and in case he has AA or KK, you get out cheaper. I’m ok taking the low variance route occasionally. Also, the check on the turn might induce a call from a weak hand on the river.

I’m also ok flatting the $310. The only hand you will likely get a call from is AK specifically, maybe. Otherwise you’re crushed. NH

I don’t think you get three streets of value. I think if you bet turn, it’s prob going check check on the river or check bet fold.

Checking back a turn that smashes a 3bet range is good for balance & can induce that river bet. Provides you the opportunity to decide on the river between call and raise which is always nice.

I like it. Imagine if he has a hand like QQ. He’s never calling 3 streets. Probably wouldn’t call the turn. However, he might actually call a small river bet with this hand who knows. If he checks the river you can bet, or call as you did. Also, you avoid getting stacked or put in a really though spot if he check raises the turn. KK makes the most sense. NH
