25 pre in BB vs limpers, I have no problem with that. But you take the lead pre flop and flop top pair, then you check away your lead? Why? Its a very unusual play that would be very noticeable to anyone in the hand. Unless your image at the table is a super passive player who ONLY bets when they hit; checking away the lead in a 3 way pot OOP is very suspicious to the other players.
So the villain who limp called pre flop sees you check away the lead weirdly, then bets into 2 players anyway on a really dry board. I feel like this is very unlikely to be a pure bluff. He doesnt have position on the button and you announced preflop that you have a hand. It doesn’t tell much of a story besides I have something. Now, in all fairness at this point, his something could be very easily less than your top pair Q kicker. So button folds and you are now heads up. You check raise your 1 pair. why??
To me here, check raise here turns your hand into a bluff. We have established that he has to have SOME kind of connection with the board (or maybe even a smaller pkt pair that doesnt connect), and its unlikely to be a draw. So now you check raise making it look like you have at least AK or a set even maybe. Is the villain ever going to call here with pkt 9s? or 56hearts? even KT (which is way less likely). Probably not. But he will call with most all the hands that beat you. He is never folding a set. Unlikely to fold 2 pair (which he is also unlikely to have here). Does he fold AA or AK? Probably not(but maybe). This is why I think the check raise here is bad for you. It folds out all the hands you can make money from and loses you a huge pot when he has you beat. He probably does not have QQ (or AA or AK based on preflop action).
Brings us to the re-jam all in for $525 more. You have to put in $525 to win a pot now totaling about $1100. Why did you call? Your hand doesn’t stand much chance to improve here. So to justify a call you must feel like you have the best hand and I just cant imagine someone doing this jam with a weaker king or an under pair.
Thoughts?
