    $2/$5, decent table.
AdQd UTG, limp, button raises to $35, I call as do 3 others. Flop is Kd8d3d (flop the nuts). Checks to button who bets $50, only I call. Turn is 9h I check-call $125. River is Kh I check button bets $250 I sense I might be beat but its hard to fold flopped nuts so I call and lose to 88. I think my line is ok (certainly from a results standpoint as I lost minimum) but also because I wanted to keep my range wide in hopes of 3 streets against both his value hands and his bluffs (I am pretty sure on a 2c river he still bets $250 and then I can check-jam). VERY NEXT HAND…
I am in BB, folds to SB – because I am talking to winner of last hand he doesn’t ask me to chop, just calls (the entire table had been chopping all day). I look down at KK and raise to $35. He calls. Now I am starting to wonder if the no-chop was an angle of sorts… anyway flop is 9c8c2s and he checks, I bet $40 and get raised to $95. I call. Turn is a 9d. He checks, I check. River is a Qs and he bets $175. I think I made a mistake here and feel this is a fold, but I was tilted and confused by the no-chop so I call and run into J9 offsuit. Tough two hands in a row…

    Hand 1

Preflop: why are we limping a premium hand from UTG? Limping just invites a bunch of calls and potentially a squeeze play where we will be in a tough spot OOP. With a premium holding UTG we want to limit the field if possible.

Flop: seems fine to slow play as we have the stone cold nuts.

Turn: I wouldn’t mind seeing a check raise on the turn as villian has shown aggression preflop, OTF and OTT. H

River: the board pairing is unfortunately. I think we have to check call any reasonable bet, we are too high up in our range to fold IMO.

    Hand 2

Seems like you played it pretty well, just another cooler. Rough 2 hands for sure :/

I agree, had you opened for $15 or $20 UTG opening strong from that position shows strength. Because of that my guess is the button just smooth calls with the 8s.

Guessing from there if you continue to show strength and apply the right pressure, you may get him to fold his set before the river since he will likely correctly perceive you are repping the flush taking a strong line from UTG.

Hand 1: raise pre. limp/calling AQdd is a really weak play. Once you get to the flop, you played it fine. However, had the board not paired on the river would you still check to him? Many players will check back at that point so I think you have to bet any river that doesn’t pair the board.

Hand 2: I think you played this fine. Unless this player is super tight and would only raise with top pair on the flop, there is not much else you can do here. Calling and checking the turn with the plan to check/call any river is a good line there. You keep bluffs in his range this way. In spots like this, checking back the turn can often get you value on the river.
