What do you guys think of the way I played this hand? I couldn’t find a fold pre flop, and after the reasonably large flop bet and check on the turn I had him on AK or AQs.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

My first thought as I watched the hand was that your preflop raise was too small. Second thought was that I don’t know the table history. But it seems that with four limpers ahead of you, a raise to $15-$20 is in order. Villian’s reraise says isolation to me, but does not really define his hand very well. Had you raised to $15 and villian reraised to $55 or so, holdings like AK and AQ can be discounted a little because of villian’s position.
Villian’s bet at a weak board on the flop and check on the turn certainly feels like a pot control line with a hand that has showdown value. Villian’s turn call kind of confirms this.
The river lead after a pot controlling line looks like villian believes his hand best and doesn’t want to miss value. But would a pot controlling villian risk a river raise with ace high? Since you’ve indicated that you have a hand with some strength, I would think villian would more likely check call the river with ace high hands.
There certainly needs to be a note attached to villian about (villian) playing cautiously. His hand was only losing to aces, kings, a three or a five. Aces would have likely been four bet, and there weren’t many threes or fives in your range. At his turn check, that’s only pocket kings he’s behind, yet he took a pot-controlling line. Very cautious.

Thank you for the reply. Not sure if it has any relevance but max buy-in on this table was $100 (50 bb), so no one was exactly deep.
Do you think I should have opted for pot control and chrcked back the turn? His flop bet left me with only $26 behind so the move on the turn seemed trivial but i’m not sure.
Also, villain’s lead out on the flop and check on the turn seems to cap his range to JJ, QQ, KK, or the occasional AKs, would this be enough info to help me find a fold on the river, even with such a good price?08/14/2017 at 1:52 pm #1153Jared FolsomParticipantWith only $26 to go on the turn I don’t know how you couldn’t Jam there. He obviously didnt have a 5 or a 3 here and I would have put him on AK or AQ but with pocket 10’s you have to consider him on JJ or better after that $40 bet on the flop. Kind of a tough spot here especially since the max buy is only $100 and no one is really deep stacked here.
