    I had AQ
    He had AA
    Flop AQQ

Could have I avoided this with a 3 bet, fold preflop?

Should have I folded to the reraised on the turn knowing he likely had AA the way the game played out?

Not much you can do here. Sure you can think of the 3bet/fold, but I guess we would’ve narrow the field and yeah, we may get called by worse, potentially, and if the open-raiser 4bet, we’re probably beat. That’s a line you could have taken, yeah… but that’s not “to avoid losing your stack”. It should be “to get value” (and reduce the field pf)… But I don’t mind the flat at all.

Now on the flop, c/c is ok. Villain’s gonna cbet all his Ax hands and he may also have some Qx. No reason to c/r yet I guess.

Turn was played a little funny. At no point I see a fold in the hand, but yeah, if we choose to c/r, the turn is pretty much a blank, he can call with his Ax, Qx… The thing is, you kind of cut his potential bluffing range (if he had any in that spot)… You could go either for a lead out, or a c/c… then he min 3bets, and you ship, that’s ok. I guess I would’ve called down and probably led the river.

Don’t be afraid of AA, there’s plenty of hands that you beat! AK, AJ, AT, etc, KQ, QJ, QT(?), 44… (I kind of doubt he’d bet the flop with 44 tho…)

I played this hand a while ago at microstakes. I remember writing it down, but I somehow forgot about it till a few days ago. UTG player is tight aggressive type and he knows that I know that. My question is can he actually fold his top two pair after my turn raise? Hands that I can actually value bet here are AA, KK, 88 and AK. Since the flop matches perfectly with his range I don’t have many bluffs on such a dry board, right? What are your thoughts about this hand?

EDIT: I understand this might not be a right place for my post but this is my first hour on this forum so please don’t get mad at me.

I hate AQ in this spot so I want to either call and proceed with extreme caution vs him (this is only if others in the pot are the reason for the season) but mostly just 3 bet to 120 now and fold to a shove. I am nitty so I usually just 3 bet and take the 40 BBs.

as Described I think if the villain is isolating With his entire and fairly tight range I will get shoved on by only aa and Kk and can fold of that happens. He will likely flat us with ak since he knows that he will likely take the pot heads up in position. Then he can play AK well vs us. And I think he will fold all lower pairs as he doesn’t have the right price to set mine. And he will fold all mid to high SCers too.

So we miss all the value from him here post flop but if he’s good we won’t be getting the value anyway post. But we take the 40BBs pre and that’s a ton of value!
