BTN 3bet Fold to flop 3bet shove

I have a Hand from a Recent 100k GTD Tournament at my Local Casino. We were down to the last 3 tables on Day 1, Blinds 1.5/3k BB Ante.

I am on the BTN w/ 70k stack & the actions folds to MP who raise to 6.5 w/ 160k stack.

Folds to me and I hold Q♠️Q♦️ & 3b to 15k. Folds to the raiser and he calls. Flop is 10♥️6♣️4♦️. Villian Checks and I bet 17k and he snap shoves. I tank for 2-4 mins and Open Fold. He shows KK

I felt the villian calling the 3b was very strong and mayb i should have checked back the flop

Question: Would a Down Bet Be better or check back or did i jus dodge a cooler
