Just curious on people’s thoughts about this as I’m playing a roughly 225 person one day tournament. With the obvious exception of premiums and mid-pairs, how often should we be thinning the field pre flop? And suggestions on establishing a range for that.
Way too many players (especially in unlimited rebuy tournaments) just flatting pre and winding up going 7-9 ways to a flop.
A lot of dead money there. I’d probably raise any suited connector or semi-connector, any two broadway cards, even suited Ax.
If the tables and tourneys are that passive, be aggressive. Shouldn’t have too much concern about being 3-bet light if everyone is playing that weak. They should let you know when you’re behind.
Agreed with John S. I would also open bigger than normal. It’s tough for them to continue on most flops when you cbet, since everyone’s range is capped.
