Cooler or misplayed?

I am effective stack with $800. Villian is new to game. He is older white male. I open raise to $20 from LJ with 77. He 3 bets to $60 from CO, I call. Flop is AK7r. I check he bets $60, I call. At this point I put him on either a set of A’s (3 ways), a set of K’s (3 ways) or A’s and K’s (9 ways). Turn is a Q. I decide to lead for $180 and would consider folding if he raises me all-in . He goes into the tank and just calls. I interpret this as he has two pair. River is a blank. I shove and he calls and shows AA. Flopped set over set. Could I have gotten away from this hand or have played it differently?

Set over Set is 90% always a cooler..

He was never going to fold but I imagine that he had some hesitation that you could have J/10.
