1-2 NLHE. Straddled pot with two limpers. I’m in the cutoff with 44 (235 stack). I raise to 12. Button calls, as well as the two limpers. 4 ways to a flop of K84 rainbow. Two checks to me I bet 25, the button flat calls and the others fold. Turn is 6clubs I bet 60 button flat calls. Turn is 9 spades I jam all in for 135 and button snap calls with KK for set over set.

Felt like a pretty gross spot. In hindsight a check somewhere post-flop might have been a better idea, but either way feel like it’s going to be a cooler. Would appreciate your guys perspective. Cheers

Yeah to me it’s just a cooler, set over set on a dry board. Well 75 and T7 get there, but other than that…

On the other hand we got bottom set and there’s not much combos of 2pairs before the river imo… But seeing how passively villain played the hand, I also would have thought we’d had the winning hand.

Maybe you could have checked the river, but could you fold is villian shoved? Not an easy spot to not lose our stack i think

when you flop a set in 1-2 and your stack is only 235. There’s no opportunity to fold. You simply are looking to build a pot so that you get it all in on the river and get called. Just got cooler’d big time. The only difference I could imagine in slowing down is if there was a 3-bet from the button and then its possible to put him on a big pair. However, even so, could still be 10’s, J’s, Q’s, or Aces. If you were much deeper, there might have been some room for you to wonder what your opponent was playing. If he was a good player and been relatively snug… there could be a reason to be concerned, but even so, you’re getting it all in and then vomiting when you see the hand. Not much you can do.
