In 1/3 game. I have pocket nines from mp. I raise to 20 and get 2 callers. The flop is 2,3,4 all hearts. I don’t have a heart. Ep bets 20, I call, late position raises it to 100.
Ep folds.
I figure he could have sets, or a few high flush’s. 9 combos of sets. About 6 combos of flush’s (kq, kj, qj, q10, j10, j9.) And 16 combos of Ace 5 for a straight. I figure he would three bet 10+, and AK/AQ of hearts preflop. So 31 combos of value hands he could have. And now when I look at bluff hands he could have ace of hearts, king of hearts, a 5 for an open ender, an ace for a gut-shot with a pair. There are more combos of bluff hands than value hands so I call for 80 more.
The turn is an offsuit 8.
I check it to him and he jams for 225. THis looks very bluffy.
I call.I will tell you what he had and what the river was afterwards..

Pf : You open 20, that’s good
F : 1 donks 20 into 60, you call, 2 raises 100 (making the pot 200), 1 folds and you call. This imo is a little borderline. 80 to call for 200, are nice odds, but you might be drawing dead already, and if not, villain might have a lot of equity. Like 12-15 outs.
Let’s say we call, there won’t be a lot of safe turn card for us.I think I may just fold here. Or maybe raise the donkbet (and fold to a 3bet).
Another option would be to 3bet the flop here, turning our hand into a bluff, hoping for villain to fold a big draw, but that’d be “high variance”, imo, to say the least.
T : we chk, villain shoves 225 into 280. Turn changes nothing, he might continue with pretty much his whole range. I think I’d fold for the same reasons I said on the flop.
With some history and/or live reads, that may change, but that was my opinion.
I’m curious to see the showdown 🙂

one would be pushing the action with a weak flush – so mid suited connectors. Would also be pushing with the Ace. No way you are pushing the action with the nut flush. I would give the better more opportunity to lead out. If you got the nuts, why scare away the action. Since we have no read on this player, I can only assume he would be playing sane. Shoving on the river is no surprise as he is committed. I just seams like he wants to avoid another hear, or needs another heart but with flush and over cards… lots of outs if you call.
However, the better question is what are you beating? The only thing you are really beating is overs with a big heart draw. You lose to set and flush. Likely doesn’t have a bigger pair as you would have gotten 3-betted. Its an easy fold. Again, my read is that he is drawing with the Ace, but if he has the mid range suited connected… no good. Fold and play a better spot.07/26/2019 at 2:02 am #4389EthanParticipantThanks so much for your help. Opponent had k,j of hearts for the second nut flush which he flopped.
