Oh, I would not have folded here.

It’s true that villain bets almost pot, but with 2nd nuts, we pretty much have to call.
You were affraid of only one hand : specifically 8-9, that means he would’ve flopped the nuts. Why wait on the turn for raising? He wants to protect against flush draw? There was a flush draw on the flop, and with that many people on the hand, we can expect him to raise flop and still get paid/value from pair+draws, in a spot or two.

Seeing his hand, we know he got the bottom end of the straight on the turn (plus he had the nut flush redraw), but I would’ve called with the 8 (probably have folded a 3 tho). I don’t think I’d raise, but at least call, expecting to go to the river HU and see what he does. We want to see a red card T+ or 3- well, even a 9 would be good (8-9 is now counterfieted, you chop), a 8 would be tricky imo… with the straight on the board you can only chop, and still lose to 8-9, and can villain have T9 ? (maybe T9cc)… If the river pairs the board, maybe villain will check, I’d check back (and expect to win)

Yeah I think because you tagged him as an aggro player and you guys are deep (200+ bb) i’d call to see a river. You can also take note that he doesn’t raise a flush draw as a bluff in a multiway pot.

    Thanks Chuck, great analysis.
What did not come to my mind at the moment was “ he had to raise on flop” means he does not have 89.
Also, I was worried that we end up sharing the pot and he might have freerole on me.
Looking back, I agree with you, should have called and evaluate on river.
