Hi guys,
my name is Felix I am a 22 yo student from Vienna in Austria. Currently, I’m on my exchange semester in Hawai’i (until Dec 2019). I know, the best place for a student but certainly not for Poker players, since gambling is officially illegal. Still, its paradise and honestly… I don’t wanna leave 🙂
A short personal Poker-History
Obviously I enjoy playing poker. I first got in contact with the game when I was about 13 and fell in love with it immediately. Ever since I read several books, played with friends and online, organized home games, watched a tone of videos of skilled players,… basically did a lot to improve my game and results were ok but I was still far from being a good player. When I finally turned 18 (in Europe it’s not 21) I was absolutely hyped to test my skills in a NL 1/1 and 1/2 game in a card room, and I absolutely nailed it.
Naaah just kidding… I was nervous, scared to make a bet, completely overwhelmed with the live structure in a casino and got lost in almost every single hand. After some sessions, I slowly got used to the environment and got more confident but was not a winning player. I just did not learn from my mistakes and did not study enough.
I got to the point that I told myself to get my sh***t together to finally start winning. So I took notes of my hands, studied the mistakes, read more about strategy tried to find players I can learn from (like Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme). When I turned 20 and moved to Germany for University my goal was to play Poker to actually have a little side income. So there I was with a 4,000 € bankroll, 100h of tracked live playing time, roughly 70,000 hands in online experience and I went to the casino where I shockingly realized that the smallest game they offered was NL 2/4 no-max and all players where solid TAGs and LAGs having an average stake of 1,000€. Only occasionally an amateur joined the tables. I still decided that I wanted to do that, so I went there and played several sessions. After about 50h of playing time I ended up losing roughly 1,000€ but I got a completely new point of view about the game since I only played against experienced players.
This summer I decided to play in the US, where I spent my holidays before moving to Hawai’i. I solely joined NL 1/2 and 1/3 tables, bought in for 100bb and it suddenly felt great to play these limits and I started to beat these levels making roughly 12bb/h over 120 hours of playing time.
What I want to do here
I will go back to Nevada this January 2020 mostly playing again in Wendover and maybe Las Vegas once or twice and I set myself the following goals:
+ Play 40h/week, 5 to 6 days per week
+ Focus on NL 1/2 or 1/3 and take a shot on NL 2/5 if I feel good about it
+ make 10bb/h
+ review my crucial handsI want to create a small blog here where I will post my daily sessions containing interesting hands where they can be discussed so that every reader and I can bring their game to the next level.
Cheers,
Felix 🙂10/29/2019 at 3:50 am #4569Brad OwenKeymasterHey man, welcome to the site. Looking forward to the blog! Thanks for sharing.
