Hey guys I’m new to the site but definitely not new to the poker scene. My Dad taught me how to play Texas holdem among other poker games when I was 6 years old. Didn’t start taking it seriously until I turned 18 and by the time I was 23 I was crushing every home game I played in and had a couple of friends who lived in Vegas and played professionally… one kinda famous and the others not so much. I had been playing at Hollywood Park and the commerce casino pretty regularly and was a net positive player. My roommate and I decided to move to Vegas to become professional players… after all, everything we did basically revolved around poker to the point that any disagreement between us was decided by a game of heads up. We moved to Vegas in 2008 and while I was very profitable at the beginning I soon found that I enjoyed partying way more than I liked grinding it out at the MGM and the Red Rock… after 6 months I went broke and got a job serving tables. Once I felt enough time had passed I started playing again with the goal of just getting my money back that I moved to Vegas with. I eventually made back my 5k and got out of Vegas as fast as I could. In the years since I don’t play nearly as much as I would like and am definitely not the player I once was (not to mention the game has changed dramatically in the last 10 years). I recently discovered Brad’s vlog and now this forum and my goal is to try and become a better player than I was 10 years ago. Being recently married and a car salesman doesn’t give me a lot of time to work on this but watching the vlogs and hopefully contributing to conversations on here will make up for the lack of table time I get. I’ve always had (as I’m sure all of us do) the dream of playing in the WSOP Main Event and I’m determined to do so… I just don’t want to be the fish at the table! If anyone in the area wants to talk poker or meet up for a game I’d be interested.
