    Hi Brad and all.

This year as part of the inevitable “bucket list” I decided to play in the WSOP 888. I bought in the first A flight 10 am. 8000 starting stack, first hour goes by and is uneventful. I am a rec player, normally always cash low stakes.

I digress, back to the hand, we are playing 7 handed. I typically play well in the 6 to 4 handed range but 8 to 10 is fine.

I think I had two “pros” at the table. First 30 minutes I was limpy and passive then switched to high gear and started playing aggressive and stealing blinds. So, here comes the big hand.

I am on the button, blinds are 100/200. I get tossed 7s7h. Everyone limps in except for the cut off, he folds (strange)
Back to me, I want the crap off the table so I raise up to 1200. SB Folds BB calls and a guy in late position calls. Everyone else folds.

    Flop 5s 3h 6s
BB checks , LP guy checks, I raise 2000 (Likely here is where I could have pushed harder ?)
    BB Folds LP guy calls.

FYI, I have about 9600 LP guy has about 8k. For the few hands prior to this I had check raised LP guy and he would fold.

My feeling at this point is that he has A K or Q I don’t believe he has a big over pair because I am guessing he would have jammed by this point or earlier. My feeling is the 7s are still good and at least one is a spade. Also, I did not see him on A 2-3-4 because his range seemed very tight. My feeling is he would have tossed it when I raised preflop.

    Turn is a 2s

I am feeling good at this point thinking I have it. LP guy checks. My feeling is stronger now that he has A K or Q. I am quite sure he does not have the nuts. Think the 7s are going to get it. Again, I just do not see him with a big pair.

Back to me, I tank, think for a minute or so and jam. (Should I have snapped?)

    He shows AsKh
    I roll over my 7s7h

So we are off to a race I have yo avoid A K and the remaining spades.

River is a Qs. I am left with about 1200 and bust out about an hour later.

    Questions
Should I have pushed in after the flop?
Should I have just checked on the river?
How bad did I play this hand? It wrecked my entire day. Next Day was a great cash game at Red Rock so I was back to happy 24hrs later!

Thanks for any help with this hand.

    Best
    Kurt

whats up Kurt. Tough luck on the hand mate. I would say you did your job by getting all the money in with the best hand. your opponent played this hand very poorly. Don’t be so result oriented.
