just wanted to share my first successful double barrel bluff, and am curious what you all put his range on.

Villain is up in the session a LOT, and I just sat down 1.5 orbits ago. Villain raises to $10 in MP. I look down at AQ suited (clubs) in the SB, and make it 25. he calls, heads-up to a flop.

Flop is J94 with 2 spades. I bet 30, he mini-tank calls. He seems to be a little washy with this call, so I range him at a mid-strength ace, pocket 7s/8s/10s, or 9 or J with ok kicker.

Turn is 10. So I turn an open-ender, but I think this hits his range better. That being said, I want to rep a made hand – I feel like a SB squeeze can rep a KQ, 78 suited, J10, 10 9, etc. I bet $50. he tanks for about two minutes, and then mucks. So no idea what he had.

Like I said, mostly just sharing because yay, but curious your thoughts on what he may have been holding.

It’s hard to range a guy if you’ve only been there for a few hands. If he’s been opening a lot he could have a ton of hands here. He could have two random spades, Ax that made a pair, something like 98 for pair & bottom end of the straight, 66/77, etc.

This is a decent board to double barrel. You’re showing you’re not scared of the straight/flush draw. Even though you are bluffing, you’ve got overs and an open-ended straight draw, so you’ve got plenty of ways to win the pot when if you get called.

My only suggestion – raise bigger pre-flop. 2.5x for a 3-bet is small, especially out of position. I would probably make this more like $35-40. Imagine if you had AA, would you have raised this small or would you have raised it bigger? You want your raises to be similar across your range. You don’t want to go 4 or 5 ways with your big hands.
