I have KcJs on button at a 1/2 home game. Hijack raises to 6. Lag cutoff calls. I call. Sb 3bets to 22. Bb, hijack, and cutoff call. Given the ridiculous price, I call as well. Flop KsTc8s. Checks to me. I bet 65 into 110. (Could size bigger, maybe 85-90) Only lag cutoff calls. Turn 7s. He jams for 245 effective. I tank fold. I have top pair, a gutter, and a J-high flush draw. But some straights and flushes got there. Should I have called it off? This player is capable of pulling a big bluff.

I would’ve folded preflop or 3-bet. If it was KJs then I would be more inclined to call. The flop and turn play seem fine to me.

Thanks for the advice Brad. I was debating whether or not to 3bet at the time. I’ll keep that in mind for next time.

KJ off isn’t very strong especially multi way. On the button it would have been better for you to 3bet or fold like Brad said. As played it would be better to fold after the 3b. You are getting a good price but it doesn’t play well against multiple opp and you will just get yourself in trouble.
What do you put your opp on when he calls the flop and then jams the river? What does his range look like after calling a preflop 3b also?

Getting 6 to 1 on the button and closing the action, I’m going to call with pretty much anything there. As mentioned, the villain was a very lag player and I’ve played with him ample times to know he could have literally any two cards here. So I think he could for sure have any flush here as well as 9J for a straight or perhaps some hands that picked up a big draw like AsTx or AsJx. Or some small percent of the time, he’ll have complete air.

You should be raising the button with your weaker holdings some of the time too. If you only raise with your strong holdings it because easier for your opponents to pin you on a hand. I’m more likely to call in pos, but raising is still better.

Good fold on the turn. He could literally have anything and you only have one pair.

I appreciate the input Steven. It’s always good to hear different thoughts on a hand and see different perspectives.
