These hands are from a 1-3 NLHE session in Las Vegas yesterday. Any thoughts from the group would be most welcome…
Hand 1: I have 9c10c in LoJack and RFI to $15 after one limper. Flop is favorable – 8c7h6h. BB bets $20, UTG+2 calls. I raise to $65 and both amazingly call. Turn 7s. Checked to me. I am a bit concerned about paired board given two callers, but bet $125. River As. UTG+2 bets $100. Hmmm – could this be a value bet w\ a full house? I call. She has quad 7s.
Hand 2: I have Kc8c in Cut-Off. RFI to $12. Button and BB call. Flop 8d5s3h. I C-Bet to $20. Both call. Turn is Ks. I bet $50. Button raises to $100. I re-raise all in to $325. River is Ad. He turns over AA. The way I count it he has 8 outs and hits it.
Hand 3: I am in SB w\ QsQc. 3 limpers. I make it $28. Button calls. All others fold. Flop Kd 9h 5s. I CBet $30. He raises to $100. I folded. How do you play this?

Some would argue that you should have been able to find a fold on her river bet. I believe it’s very “read dependent” Not sure if you’d been there long enough to have a feel for her playing style, but her leading out for that amount, coupled with the way that the hand developed, does lead one to believe that she most likely filled up on the turn. If my math is correct, you were getting around 6 to 1 on the river call. (I’m assuming the other player folded on the turn) Not easy to find a fold there.
Hand 2: I don’t mind your pre-flop and flop decisions. The check raise on the turn would give me pause. What’s the villain repping there? You have to consider that he might have slow played a flopped set. Instead of re-raising all in, I would have called for pot control. The ace on the river may have allowed you to get away and save those chips. I know that line is on the tighter side….but I am the true personification of a “TAG” player. Emphasis on the “T”.
Hand 3: Close on this one. The pot is laying you about 2.5 to 1 on a call. Depending on how aggressive the button is….he may have viewed that King as a “scare card” and is putting you to the test. I don’t mind a fold there, as long as you’re mixing in some 3 bets in those situations so your opponents don’t make a habit of trying to exploit you when they have position.
Also – it would be great if you could also provide approximate chip amount. My feedback may have been a bit different knowing the stack to pot ratios.
thanks for posting.
