This is a hand I played the other day at a home game with friends:
1-2 w/ 5 bb ante
4 handed
Villain on button ($1800). Very competent, aggressive player.
We’re in SB with JTss ($450)
-Villain opens to 10, we call and BB folds.
-Flop [KcJh8h] ($37)
-Villain bets 20, we call
-Turn [7c] ($77)
-Villain bets 125, we call
-River [3s] ($327)
-Villain shoves for my remaining 295
-I tank for a minute and call.
Want to get your thoughts on the hand. I considered 3-betting preflop but thought flatting was fine too.
I think the flop call is mandatory here. I didn’t think the turn should improve villain and adds additional draws to bluff at, so I just call his polarized bet. The river is a brick, and I thought this was one of the better hands to hero call with because we block the straight, KJ and JJ which I think make up the majority of his 3-barrel value hands. We also don’t block any of the flushes that missed.
Thanks for the input!
