Argh. When you play the maniac, you get it all right, and yet lose.

Playing 2-5. I am the effective stack at about 113 bbs ($565ish) . Villain is exceptionally loose at the table. We have tangled a bunch, and for the most part he has come out on top. Never any huge hands, except for a nasty suckout that I’m (tbh) still a bit tilted about.

Villain in the SB, I am the BB. Action checks around to him, no chop, he completes, I check. I have 6c7h.
    Pot: $10

Flop is Ks8h5h. He bets $10, I call. I am open-ended, and at this point I feel like I am ahead in the odds-race. He may have some small pairs, or an 8 or 7. But he was raising any single-broadway card all night. I considered raising, but I know he will call a raise but also continue betting literally any turn – so why not let him keep putting money in voluntarily.
    Pot: $20

Turn is the magical 4d. He bets $20. I just call.
This does seem like a mistake to me. I can raise here and get more money in the pot without issue. This is the type of opponent who wouldn’t even fold a naked top-pair on this street, so I should definitely look to capitalize on this. Almost literally all of his hands are calling, and with my nutted hand that’s what I should be aiming to get money in with.
    Pot: $60

River is the Qh. That’s pretty gross, but I can probably represent the flush as well…except oh…he just puts some chips in. Its a stack…oh, he’s all-in. a $60 pot, and he bets ~$530.

Honestly, I pretty much snap this one off. He is super loose, and I have the nut straight. This is an opponent who has been showing aggression constantly throughout the night, and not always showing the cards to match it. Of course, this time, he turns over AK hearts…I don’t know if that is EVER something I can put him on here with how the hand played out. Its almost better to post this in the bad-beat section, but idk….tell me if I can get away from this river bet…seems like no, but ????

It hurts for sure, but I just don’t see a fold against such a LAG in a blinds-war…

Pretty Nasty. I was just watching a Mariano vlog on a very similar situation. He was willing to call off a huge stack and if they guy had it… good for him. But given how lose he plays, as Mariano said “I’m happy to pay him off every time”. So although you lost the hand… you gotta target the lose play.

However, although he is very lose, has he been known to do something like that before. Was this insanely large, even for him? To me… just shoving that stack in is a little telling. It would be a little different if he check raised… that would seem more bluffy from a lose player. Rather than a straight on shove, which seems purposeful. I don’t know… you invested $30… I think you can just fold this one and move one. So what I’m saying is… either seems to be the right play. I think the only difference is if that river shove seemed a little too odd. Reading it…it did, but thats easy to say. Not sure if that was helpful but…
