Hero: UTG+2 position, $180 effective 4d4c. Table has one very aggressive player, several that have extremely wide pre-flop calling range when it goes multiway (like 35o on the button wide).

Pre-flop: UTG+1 raises to $10, I call. Cutoff, Button, SB and BB all call. My intention is purely to set mine.

Flop Qs6d4s: Checks to UTG+1 who bets $15 (snug player). I raise to $45 and everyone folds. UTG+1 shows TT with one spade. I am fine with Raising since UTG+1 is showing a lot of strength by leading into 4 others and I think I can get value to

ut I have a question. I need to better define my cold raising range here. I think I do it with all sets but what are the best bluff raises here? It’s weird because there are so many players and the c-b-et is 35% of the pot. so my raising range should be extremely narrow but what is it. I don’t think I am calling with 75ss but I would do this with 89ss but anything else?

Depending on the table and UTG1, I might even fold 44 pf. UTG1 opening range should be stronger, and even if I’m ok with set mining, it’s better to do so if you know players behind are gonna be passive. If there’s few 3bets and squeeze plays, I guess the set mine is fine.

Here, we pretty much got the perfect situation, lot of players to a flop in a single raised pot. We hit our set. I like your raise. I’m not gonna flat with the flush draw on board. Original raiser cbets (super tiny, like a quarter pot ; 15 into 60) Your raise doesn’t always represent a set imo (or 75s), since OR cbets weak, I guess your raise could rep a top pair, or a nfd… Anyway, I like playing it fast from here especially with 6 plrs in the hand. I think you can still get called by TP, fd, mid pairs, maybe, 2pairs combos, str8 draws, double draws. Too bad they all folded, but I think you did the right thing by raising flop. (going for a x/r would look even stronger, imo… pretty much only sets).

I agree… I think you did the right thing. I perspective, it wasn’t a huge raise. I think anyone who catches a piece, plus given the wide range players have… there are a lot of hands that are coming along. I think it was just unfortunate that no one had anything relevant or enough of a piece. I’m not sure you want 4 players to the turn. Even if no one has two spades, another spade on the turn will give rise to any large spade. I think you’re likely okay with them drawing as you will get value, but you’re playing with matches there. I think you raise the right amount and no one had any kind of equity or showdown value at that point. bummer. Nice hand
