It’s really weird.
Ok I play 1/2 almost once a week.
Sometimes, you get a whole lot of monster hands within an hour of play, and those days, you know down deep inside that you just can’t lose, no matter what you do, you already know you’ll finish up.
Some other times (a bit more often) you can’t get a hand dealt, i’m talking about K2, 83, 94 every single hand, you keep folding and folding, and one time ou setmine with a mid pp, flop bottom set, but you gotta fold the turn because there’s to much action on a board with 4 to a straight and 3 to a flush (ended up folding vs an overset).
Then you keep foling 94 and J3o utg. Untill you get finally AQ or AJ, you iso one or two limpers, and even if you played a hand and a half per hour, you still go 5ways to a flop, and you obviously miss, and got to fold after a bet and a call (or 2).I just finished a session like that. I won 3 pots in 3.5 hours (2 of them were preflop). Didn’t lose any big pots, didn’t get coolered, just didn’t get nothing to play with, and when I did, I had to give up postflop. Lost close to a buyin by $25 chunks every time I had a hand to see a flop with and had to fold (or call flop fold turn).
My question is : do you guys have a trick when this happens? You just stay patient and keep grinding and waiting for a spot? Change seat? Change table?
Let’s say the game is somewhat soft, some medium sized fish, no big shark, some regs who don’t really bluff much.
Should I just leave because “i know I won’t make a hand”? In my opinion, that doesn’t feel very rational (but maybe I should try this method?!)Anyway, thanks for reading me 🙂

On the other hand, thinking “i can’t win a hand, can’t make a hand, no matter what i do, there’s no way i could win today” is probably a slight change in the mindset… 😉

My $0.02!

It’s boring to fold over and over again. For me, I always take music to listen to. I keep one head phone on at all times but I don’t always have music playing. I only hit a play button if I’m fighting boredom. This way no one knows something’s up just cause I get head phones out. For me, this is one of the better ways of fighting the grinds of just getting crappy cards. I also try to make it a point to get up every hour and just walk around and stretch my legs during these dry spells. But don’t give up unless you are swimming in tilt territory. It’s easy to get there even if you don’t get dealt a cooler. It can sneak up just through boredom.
Good luck!!!02/07/2018 at 4:26 pm #2421Chuck MParticipantThanks Martin, good idea about the music and getting up once an hour
