Alrighty, this one is nagging at me as being way too tight. Thoughts please!

Villain is an old man coffee (we’ll call him OMC) who has gotten super unlucky in the last two hours (talking about $800 down in a 1/2 game, and he’s tight….kings into aces, trips broken, and I even hit set-over-set on him). Effective stacks is about $200 (his).

two limps to me in late position with KJ spades. I make it $10, relatively standard open for the table. Maybe could size up to 15 with the limpers. I get 3 callers.

Flop is 10s 9c 5s, so I flop the second-nut flush draw. OMC donks for $20. I call. I am putting him on a pair of 9s or better, maybe a flush draw himself or perhaps some decent over-cards. there’s one other caller, so 3 to the turn

Turn is another 5. He bets $50. I mini-tank fold. I need to hit my flush to be ahead, and its possible he could be chasing the nut flush. He’s a reg, and another reg next to me had told me earlier that he plays his AK like AAs, even if he misses (i.e. bet-bet-bet-bet).

Unfortunately the other player also folds, so no idea what the results-oriented play would have been. Is this too tight? I feel like he’s got a made hand and is trying to deny draws on the flop. The turn gives him a full house potential, and then he bets into 2 players for 1/2 pot. He had definitely loosened up after his losing streak, but I don’t see him having any bluffs in his range (this hand or ever).

Should I call and pray for the river (Ace of spades preferably, but I’ll take any spade…i’m not greedy), or is this an acceptable fold? My gut says its too tight – I was also leaving at the end of this orbit, so definitely had some ‘want to keep my winnings’ mentality (yes I know that’s bad, but I haven’t even hit 100 hours live play, so I’m working on it)

Yes, you need to size up with limpers in the pot. For every limper, add 2 or 3 dollars.

Generally, folding to an OMC showing aggression is never really a bad play. Exploitative, yes, but people in 1/2 are playing to exploit, they are playing so face up we should be exploiting them.

He could easily be doing thing with something like 99 or TT and you’re drawing dead. Could just be an over pair.

I doubt he’s donking a flush draw unless it’s specifically A9ss. I think most OMC are slow playing the nut flush draw since trapping seems to be their play.

You also have a Q to hit the nut straight, and it’s pretty disguised, so that’s 3 more outs. Hitting a K or a J may also be good, but you don’t know.

I think the fold is fine here though. You probably aren’t getting paid by OMC if the flush hits if it’s good.

Yea, I’d say too tight for how I play. But then again if u feel ur card isn’t coming what else to do but fold. So not really too tight.
