Not a specific hand, but a situation I keep experiencing playing the $5 to $10 buy-in tournaments on ACR.
I am pretty new to poker. I have only been playing/studying for about 5 months. The last couple of weeks I have been playing the $5 to $10 buy-in tourneys on ACR and it seems that whenever I open up UG or UG1 (for 2 to 3 BB), the table folds around to me about 80%+ of the time. I don’t mind picking up the blinds and antes, but it would be nice to get some more value some of the time. When I limp in it seems like everyone else limps and we are 7 to 9 people to the flop. My range is usually 88+, T9s+, AKo, AQo from these positions.
Is this normal in low stakes tourneys? Should I be happy picking up the blinds/antes, or should I limp in more? Is it my table image? My VPIP/PFR over 1.5k+ tourney hands is 24/19. I don’t seem to have this issue when I open up from the lowjack or better.
Thanks for your input.

Maybe open more so you have a maniac image, so they call down light, hopefully when you actually have a premium hand?
Still looking for a “Don’t take poker advice from this person” t-shirt, for myself, of course.

06/22/2017 at 4:13 pm #454shovemonkeyParticipantMatt, I like the t-shirt idea!
Hippie Nate, I’d rather win a lot of small pots rather than lose a monster when limping. I might try oping wider with a few hands and see how that goes.

I have become more accepting of stealing the blinds and antes, but I have also widened my range a bit at times depending on the makeup of the table. In all it has helped me increase my chip stack earlier in tournaments. This weekend I have played 7 $0.50 tourneys on ACR and have cashed in 4 and final tabled 2 with a 4th and a win! Thanks again!
