    Playing $1-2 at Harrah’s in north k.c. like usual. Had been playing for about an hour and a half. The first hour of which had not been great. Lost my first $200 buy in, calling with 2nd best mostly, and gave my last $66 away to guy next to me when I flopped mid pair, plus straight draw, plus flush draw and managed to miss every card against his pocket jacks. I’m only mentioning this hand because the hand I’m discussing is against the same guy, so let’s get into it.
    Me:
    Starting stack : $250
    Position: small blind
    Hand: Q♤10♡
    Villain:
    Starting stack: $500
    Position: big blind
    Hand:?
    Pre flop- 4 limps to me in sb I complete, bb makes it $15. 2 callers in front, and despite my position I have seen this player raise light, be very sticky and he doesn’t have a great post flop game, so I call.
    $ in pot: approx $75
    Flop- K♡3◇J♧
    I check to the initial raiser who puts out a $20 bet, fairly small relative to the pot. 2 other players fold, I’m not going anywhere with an open ender when there is no flush draw and if he has made a decent hand I can still improve and get paid off.
    $ in pot: $115
    Turn- 9♤
    Yahtzee. I check again to set the trap which the big blind takes. He bets $40, I check raise to $140. At this point he gets frustrated and asks if I have pocket jacks. I stare at the spot on the table that I’ve been looking at and say nothing. He asks 2 more times as though I didn’t hear him, so I decide to ask him if he has A♡K♡. He says no and asks me yet again if I have Jacks. I decide to be honest and simply say no I don’t. He calls the extra hundred.
    River- 7♡
    I jam my remaining $85 immediately. Villain thinks, then shrug calls. I show and he grumbles then flips over A♤A♡.
    Don’t know what he thought he was beating on the river or why he made such small bets pre flop and on the flop, but I’m glad he did. Ended up in for $400 out for $740.
    Let me know what you all think, and as always good luck at the tables.

    Preflop is okay I guess if you have the read that he is loose. Still not optimal to play these kind of hands 4 ways OOP, I would probably fold (even if the price is great).

    On the turn you have two options: calling or raising. You need to ask yourself how you’re gonna get the money in. I think both options are good, but checkraising to like 115-120 (even minraising, I know a lot of people don’t like but Charlie Carrel made a good video aobut it) and jamming the river would be optimal cause the river bet sizing is kinda awkward atm. Still fine don’t get me wrong!

    Just one thing: When you lose pots, you should probably get some chips extra to complete your stack instead of losing it on a marginal hand (since it will probably happen often when you’re short stacked). Would save a lot of money on the long term!

    If I had to guess, it has to do with your position. BB has a very wide range and if people at the table have been calling to protect their BB just because it might have disguised your hand. Put yourself in his spot for a second. Bullets. He is looking at you like a fish also because of your original write up. You flat preflop… You check the flop then call…. You check raise the turn which should have set off alarm bells for him. In my head I would have put you on 2 pair there KJ most likly. Not correct but correct enough to fold. He then calls which basically makes him pot committed. (you dont have much behind and are giving great odds) I would have probably flipped your bets with 100 on the turn then shove on the river but thats just my style to keep him there. Your bet gave him 2.55 to 1 odds. Mine gives him about 3.5 to 1.

    also agree with above.. top off. You make yourself a easy mark because your SPR is way off
