Pretty early stages of state champs tournament here in Sydney, Australia. Roughly 25 big blinds behind me on 800/1600.
UTG raises to 4000, I call with QJ diamonds. CO who is short stack and seems to be tilting shoves for 20k more. UTG raiser calls and I decide to call too.

Flop comes AK diamonds and an off suit 4 so have a royal flush draw. UTG bets 10k which is only leaving me with about 15k behind.
I decide to shove and UTG calls.

Turn and river are brick, brick. UTG wins with an ace.

I don’t know how I feel about this. Might have been a bit loose calling all in for a draw against an UTG raise. Maybe it was the thought of a royal flush that made me call.
Any advice or opinions is appreciated. Cheers.

So it really depends on what type of player UTG is. If here is competent then I would fold to the called shove. His range should have you beat pretty badly and even flopping top pair UTG could have you dominated.

The first call is fine and navigate post flop but calling a 12BB shove with only about 13BB left is not going to be winning in the long run.

Yeah looking back now I probably should have found the fold to the shove and call.

I should have mentioned, both players had been playing pretty loose, big raises with low suited connectors prior.
My read was pretty accurate on them. CO had 89s, UTG had A2o.

Have only been playing live poker for a month now so appreciate your feedback.
