1/2 game in local casino. Stacks were pretty deep. I opened 88 to 4x in MP and got 4 callers including SB before BB 3-bet to 30. I call and SB calls – others fold.
Flop is Kh8c2d – so I flopped a set on a super dry board. BB leads out 50. Because board is so dry I flat. SB calls. Turn is 4c bringing back door flush and straight draws. BB again leads 50. I raise to 175. SB calls and BB folds. River is 5c. SB leads 210. I call. SB turns over 6c3c for flush. SB says he folded QQ.Questions: was my set mining call preflop too loose? should I have raised flop despite the board being so dry? should I have raised more on the turn? should I have found a fold on the river?
I think I only made a mistake on one street, but I won’t say which one yet because I’m curious to see if others agree. Appreciate any thoughts y’all may have.

about the set mining: you had to call an additional 22 in a pot of 70. Thereby, it is very likely that you get at least one other caller (especially when you call, so others have better odds obviously). So, I like set mining, also because you are deep.
I would have played flop just the same, you don’t have to protect from anything really. I prefer a call and hold everyone in the pot.
turn: It is a weird bet of 50 into 264 of the BB. The pot is 314 when it comes to you. Raising is the best option imo. Maybe you could have made it like 200-220 but i don’t think it makes that much difference.
river: I think it is really hard to get away from this. Only hands i would put the sb on is something like a strong broadway with the K of clubs.. just a horrible preflop and even more horrible flat on the flop by the sb imo.
All in all, I would have played it not very differently I think. Curious about what you would have done differently in hindsight.
Cheers!

Maybe a bigger turn bet would have got a fold, but you don’t really want him to fold. 75% of the time he’s going to miss that river. It’s a crap run out but if he keeps playing 63 OOP against guys who are betting and raising you’ll get his money.
Or, idk what I’m talking about. Either way good luck out there.

Dennis, you called what I perceive as the only real mistake I made in this hand perfectly. Namely, I should have raised more on the turn. I think the call pre-flop, the flat on the flop and the call on the river are all ok. However, when I raised the turn I was sizing the raise based on the BB’s bet size of 50. But that was a very small bet relative to the size of the pot. I think I should have taken the size of the pot into account and raised to at least 200, probably more like 250. I’m not sure that would have gotten the SB to fold, but it would at least have charged him properly for drawing.
