This hand is from a 2/3 spread limit game at Talking Stick in AZ. I am about $900 effective and the villain is about $300 effective. I limp under the gun with A-J off suit. Cut off calls, small blind and big blind call. Flop comes A-A-K with two diamonds. I bet out $10 into a $12 pot. Only the small blind calls. Turn is the 5 of spades. I bet $20, the villain raises to $60 and I re-raise to $160 thinking the villain most likely has a big draw like J-10 of diamonds or a worse Ace. Villain calls. River is a off suit rag (I believe the 3 of clubs). Small blind checks. I figure a hand that has me beat has to bet the river for value and a worse ace will check here worried they are beat. I put the Villain all in. Villain snap calls with 5’s full. Should I have checked back the river? I believe the rest of my logic is pretty sound.

I play at Talking Stick too.

I don’t see much else you could have done. Had you raised pre-flop and bet the flop, you would have won then. But once he hits that turn he’s committed. At that point it’s pretty much a cooler. Sure you can check river, but when he turns over A10, A8, or something like that, you’re going to be upset that you didn’t bet and get the rest of his stack, cause there’s no way he’s folding. He’s got way more combos of Aces that you beat than hands that beat you.

Had the turn been anything else you win then. You were either going to win a small pot or lose a big one.

Never open limp. But he would have called a preflop raise anyway.
I don’t like the reraise on the turn. Call is better there i think.
As played i think a check is fine. But the raise isn’t horrible either. After he only calls your turn reraise though he could just have a weak ace. Overall it’s kind of a cooler.
