Hand starts with an UTG straddle and folds to me in the lowJack with 5s6s. I flat, cutoff raises to 14 total, button calls, blinds and straddler fold. I call the additional $10.
    Flop: 6d,7s,9c.
I check, cutOff bets $10, button min raises to 20, I tank call, and the cutOff folds.
    Turn: 9s
We now have 2 pair, flush draw, gut shot straight draw. Check it to the button who continues for 40. We make the call.
    River: Jd
No help to us, we think for 15 seconds before checking it over to the button who jams for 230. We tank for another 15 seconds before letting it go.

Q: Should I have 3 bet (4 if you count the straddle) to squeeze out of the lowJack pre?
Q: Is a call on this river ever good? I generally don’t like to call big river bets with low pairs.

For me, the 5/6 suited from that position is not a good flatting hand. I’m probably folding pre-flop because there’s still too much action behind me to be playing a weak drawing hand out of position. Although you had a gutter, it’s the low end even if it hits. I would wait to play that hand closer to the button (cutoff or hijack at worst) and I would raise if it folds to me.

Hi, I think you should be open raising this hand or folding. You should also be folding the flop multi-way to a bet and raise here. If it were HU you could definitely continue, but with more people in the pot this should be a fold.

I think I’m inbetween Nick and Robert’s comments.
I’d like to see you raise this hand. I don’t like the limp. But regardless its a good call. I would also have to know how loose or tight the cut off is. Its not a bad flop as we caught bottom pair, with gut shot straight and backdoor flush. I think we want to see another card so I like the $20 call – although the mini raise is suspicious unless you tell me its coming from a weak player. 9s turn is interesting. This would scare me that he has top pair here, but we still have straight draw, flush draw and full house draw. The river bet is very odd. I don’t understand why he would over bet the pot. Regardless, if he had something, it only helps you out that you only have bottom pair and and you basically beat a bluff. Given the large river bet, I might have to consider you might be good if he has a big ace. But I don’t know enough about players tendencies to conclude that he missed. The safe play is an insta-fold and play a better situation. Though seems awful suspicious of a guy betting who can only win by betting. But with the lack of info, easy fold

Buddy fold preflop. As played fold on the flop. As played call the turn and then fold river.
But if you wanna get fiesty with a shitty hand then you have to play it agressivley by raising at any point in the hand…
