    Hi everyone,

Playing a cash league final in my local casino, only 7/10 players showed up so we had 3 stacks being blinded (All 3 put in a big blind every hand after the break, so the pot is already massive preflop thoughts on this ruling also)

Anyway, were about 2 hours into play and I have 29BB which is one of the top 3 stacks, UTG tries to raise but one chip rule forces him to call, next to act flats. I look down at QQ I decide to just shove as two limps plus the 3 dead BB plus SB and BB would give me 10k to my 47k stack or around that. Anyway folds around and UTG snaps with aces and I’m out.

Am I overthinking this or is my play terrible, the dead money in the pot obviously changed my normal play. Interested to hear thoughts on hand and also ruling of the dead stacks putting in BB every hand.

    Thanks for reading

    Hi there !

Hard to answer your question, but I think we can easily the “terrible play” option.
What came quickly to my mind was the fact that there might have been some angle shooting from the UTG player. If he did not do it voluntarily, well maybe you should have 3-bet without going all-in (especially knowing that he wanted to raise), so you could have seen what the situation was.

Also, I think you do not need to shove in order to get the dead money. Play your hand quite normally, the results will be the same.

    Good luck ! 🙂

I don’t think the play is “terrible” as it ended up being a bit of a cooler. I don’t know this one chip rule you speak of unless he just tried to raise but didn’t put out enough so it ended up being a call. Personally, I like a small raise there to try and isolate to heads up. You know you are going up against at least one good hand so I like seeing a flop heads up and evaluating at that point. If you see a flop of AK8 you can probably fold but if the flop ends up 46J you are likley getting stacked anyways. At the end of the day its a cooler and it sucks. This is why I play more tournaments vs cash, it only takes one unlucky hand to erase hours of profit (and I know it works the other way too)!

Best of luck on the tables!
