Rio daily deepstack. I’m fairly new to the table. Blinds are 300/600 with something like a 50 ante. MP raises to 1500 and Lojack calls (both middle aged gentlemen). SB grabs a stack of 5000 chips, doesn’t count them out, roughly 45000 worth and puts it in. He’s young and aggressive. He’s the table chip leader. I’m the BB, second in chips on table with roughly 35k, and 3rd in chips doesn’t have half my stack. I look down at JJ. I tanked for quite a while. I ended up folding, but more I thought about it since, I think he was isolating the smaller stacks, and I likely had him. What do you think? Too tight of a fold?

I think either decision is correct. However in the Daily Deepstacks I think you made a wise decision. The fields in these tournaments are so weak that you can find much more positive ev spots to accumulate chips. I took third in one of these a couple weeks ago without ever having a massive stack or going all in until the final table.

If this were a larger buyin tournament I think I would be more inclined to call. However in the deepstacks you are presented with so many opportunities that even flips aren’t all that necessary.

Thank you for the response. Definitely agree with weakness of the field in the dailies though. I ended up getting coolered just out of the money, but that hand stuck out to me.

I think its closer with Jacks but with Queens and above you might just shove/four bet depending, its just pretty unlikely they have a better pair. Folding pre is just pretty dang tight but I might be wrong. You’re 100% continuing with Aces/Kings so I don’t necessarily see how Queens/Jacks is a fold, at the least maybe just flat and assess from there.

Edit: Didn’t see how much the one guy raised, I’d probably just shove. But that might be the wrong play as I’m not sure how often hes just bullying the smaller stacks as to actually having a premium hand.
