1-2 no limit max buy-in $300, 9 seated, stack ranges $65-$450 , my stack $450 villain $350, villain is a good thinking reg. depending who is at the table it can play big for $1-2 and several players have at least 3 buy-ins behind ( rebuy-in range of $175-275)
MY HAND ON THE BUTTON K,Q diamonds, VILLAIN OPENS MP2 $7 ( villains range, a lot of suited connectors or Ax-Kx suited hands, broadways, but I later found out that he was opening for $7 on a lot of his range, he actually limped A’s which he never does, earlier that session)
then 2 over calls and I raise to $28, villain calls then it gets folds around. ( $73 pot preflop)
FLOP ( Qs, 7s, 4h ) villain checks, knowing i’ll probably C-bet on that board. I do… for $65, villain tanks……. and calls, he’s known to tank a lot . TURN ( 10s )d***t! this time villain doesn’t tank, fairly quickly puts $125 out there, I tank and fold. My question: should I have CB with $30/ checked for a free turn/ or over bet the pot on the flop . I think I left my hand wide open, allowing this player to slide a half size pot bet with any spade hitting the turn. maybe I was behind to a AQo with A of spade, could have been chopping but he had the Ks. got a little lost in the hand and believe I really played it wrong.

No, you played it fine, just got unlucky. Might be a big bet for 1-2, but the 80% pot on flush draw board isn’t out of the norm for 3-5 games. I guess it depends on how your casino plays.

You’re going to bet AA, KK, QQ, AK, and probably JJ and TT there, you should absolutely bet top pair here. Charge his draws if he has them, make him pay for a street with AK and get another street of value from his lower pairs.

Thanks, sound logic. So we agree a fold was correct.
