I start the hand with roughly 1.2k, raise UTG with two black aces and get 5 callers and we see a flop of K♠️10♦️2♠️, I feel like a cbet is mandatory to protect my hand so I bet 90 and get called only by one player who is directly to my left and he just sat down with 800 stack. We see a turn card of 6♠️. This is where I question what play is best I decided to check despite having the ace of spades in my hand and he checks back. River 2♥️ I also wasn’t sure what to do being first to act on the river so I end up making a small 125 bet to hopefully get called by a king and hopefully not get raised, villain basically snaps it off and shows Q♠️3♠️. Obviously not much I can do when he gets there on the turn I just wonder what my best plays on the turn and river are? Opinions?

Thanks Eric for sharing. My first thought is that this sounds like a great game, lol. The UTG+1 player should never be calling preflop with Q3ss. He should always be betting turn and should always be raising river. The way he played that hand is insane. You lost the absolute minimum. I have no issues with how you played it. Betting turn is probably best. With the Ace and King of spades both accounted for, it makes it a lot less likely that you’re up against a flush draw. It’s also very unlikely you’re beat by someone with two pair or a set since those hands would probably raise on the flop so that players behind don’t call with a lot of equity. If you do bet the turn with black Aces, it’s very unlikely you’ll ever get raised since you’ll have blockers to the nuts, plus you’ll be drawing to the nuts so it’s not the worst thing in the world if that happens anyway. I’d bet to try and get value out of all of his hands containing a King. It might be difficult to get value out of his top pair hands on the river if a 4th spade comes for instance so you want to make sure you at least get value from those hands on the turn.

As played, you absolutely have to bet river like you did. It’s absurd that you’re beat by a flush there, especially when he just flats the river with the second nuts. I hope you have better luck in the future.

What casino was this at btw?
