Thanks Eric for sharing. My first thought is that this sounds like a great game, lol. The UTG+1 player should never be calling preflop with Q3ss. He should always be betting turn and should always be raising river. The way he played that hand is insane. You lost the absolute minimum. I have no issues with how you played it. Betting turn is probably best. With the Ace and King of spades both accounted for, it makes it a lot less likely that you’re up against a flush draw. It’s also very unlikely you’re beat by someone with two pair or a set since those hands would probably raise on the flop so that players behind don’t call with a lot of equity. If you do bet the turn with black Aces, it’s very unlikely you’ll ever get raised since you’ll have blockers to the nuts, plus you’ll be drawing to the nuts so it’s not the worst thing in the world if that happens anyway. I’d bet to try and get value out of all of his hands containing a King. It might be difficult to get value out of his top pair hands on the river if a 4th spade comes for instance so you want to make sure you at least get value from those hands on the turn.
As played, you absolutely have to bet river like you did. It’s absurd that you’re beat by a flush there, especially when he just flats the river with the second nuts. I hope you have better luck in the future.
What casino was this at btw?
