1/2 $100 max buyin. Effective stack is mine at $150.
Utg,1,2 and 3 all limp, I raise to 15 with QQ from LJ. HJ calls and utg calls. Flop 274r. Utg (V) leads out for 16, I call (should I raise here?). HJ folds. Turn 10 brings bdfd she checks I bet 30 (probably too small) she calls. River 4x she bets 75 I begrudgingly call. She shows A4ss.

I know my turn bet should have been bigger but was I simply married to my overpair here? Can I find a fold? She wasn’t the loosest player but she was by no means the tightest.

    Cheers guys.

I think you are dead-on with your analysis. You could have re-popped it on the flop, but the board being so dry, I think you were right to just flat and conceal your hand value (she could have read that flat as 2-overs with a BD flop option, floating one not wanting to give up so early. On the turn, you COULD have bet bigger, but – had the 4 not come on the river, you would have been happy to have that extra $30 in the pot…. I think it’s one of those spots where you are too good to throw it away – a smart player could be putting you on a total miss (AK-AQ-AJ) and just trying to take down the pot with A-7, A-2, or nothing at all. Sometimes you just can’t win. Reload and keep after it!

Yeah you played it fine. Maybe a little bigger on the turn, but 30 was fine. You want any pair to call. Unfortunate river, but i think you have to call there.

I also think it was a good play on your part. I think everybody has experienced (and several times for that matter) knowing they are good on the turn and getting beat on the river because somebody called with a weak pair and got lucky. It sucks but you can’t avoid it at times.

I’d bet 15 pre. Then small raise on flop. Most low level players won’t fold to a raise of $20-25here. This will get $85-95 in the pot and about the same left in your stack. Then we can just bet 1/2 pot which commits us and opponents to the pot. You can also just shove (potsized with this action) but in low level games this loses too much value IMO. River plays itself because we committed on the turn We either call or Ship.
