In your situation, I would have checked again to allow the better to continue, so that you can decide if it’s a price you’re willing to pay to see your draw. By you putting the $50 in first, you are committing/investing that your draw will pay off. It would have been a good fold if you had checked first, but after you put the $50 in you should have been committed to the end, especially since I’m assuming that his raise was an all-in.

I feel like you should have a plan when you decide to bet 50. What if they call, what if they raise? Am I ready to get it in with my double draw if they raise? Or would I fold, if so, why not check, and maybe call a bet of 50 to see a river!? It is perfectly ok to bet 50 with the intention of folding, but in that case your bet is a bluff and the plan is pretty clear. In that situation you got nice equity. You could have led the flop, or c/r, or c/c and reevaluate the turn. Here, the deuce changes nothing. You had 104 to call and if I’m not mistaking, there’s 208 in the pot, so that’s 3:1, you need 25% chance to win. Imo, it’s close to a break-even decision. Depends if you think villain can shove with 2overs (and maybe a bigger flush draw than yours), or top pair, even if he just hit bottom set, you’re in not so bad of a shape.
I think the call isn’t a mistake, and the fold’s not either. The only thing I don’t like about the fold is that we lead the turn, makes it harder to fold afterwards. I think I prefer the call, but sometimes it’s easier to say off the table than doing it in game. It also depends on your mental game and your bankroll, I guess. Also, it might depend of live tells that you may get on villain when he bets, does he snap shoves or did he tank before pushing, stuff like that.
