I am going to be in Vegas with some friends for a couple of days in April. I will only have time to play one, maybe two short sessions (2-3 hours).

I am staying on strip so I can fairly easily travel anywhere along it. I play 1-2 and 1-3 NLH almost exclusively with occasionally playing 3-6 and 4-8 limit to pass the time on a wait list.

Planet Hollywood is good action. 1/2 NL – $300 capped

I really like the 1/3 at Bellagio and 1/2 at Caesar’s. Both of the poker rooms are super nice and the players are generally nice as well. As Mike McDermott would say, “the nicer the guy, the poorer the card player.”

I’ve also played at PH…definitely a lot of action, especially late at night. The poker “room” (more of a section, really) is basically in the middle of the casino, so it’s pretty loud…not necessarily a bad thing, but something to keep in mind.

I’ve only played at MGM, The Venetian, and The Bellagio. MGM had a high-hand payout every 30 mins when I was there and I ended up winning one for like $250. I believe the Venetian also has a high hand payout, but the Bellagio does not. Others can correct me if I’m wrong…it’s been over a year since I was in Vegas. The Bellagio is cool because you will definitely see some high profile pros playing – Doyle Brunson, Justin Bonomo, and actor James Woods were playing when I was there.
