Ya I’d say so gabe, I totally understand the temptation of entering with those suited royal-rag combos. but it’s just not gonna be conducive to safely building your roll.

Not sure about just calling the raise with J-6 of diamonds, especially if you’re not willing to take control or at least get in the mix on that flop. As played tho I think I raise to $100-130 range. By doing that you then put the 8’s in a very tough/awkward spot as even if they are up against a flush draw they are likely just flipping a coin. LAG has any 2 there, tight caller between you is well.. tight, possibly folds better flush draw there to a raise? All you have to worry about is the small blind really.

Yea I agree with everyone’s logic here. I personally like a lead on that turn a lot. I completely understand the logic of just fold and find a better spot than defending with 10-9 off from the big, but as the game went at the time it felt fine. I had sorta come to that conclusion myself, that even with a LAG strategy at these insanely passive PA/New England 1/2 no limit games, that is a pretty easy fold pre flop. Especially if I fold river when I have trips against a capable player.

Wow, tough spot. I watched the hand a few times, analyzed myself before reading your analysis and shared a very similar line of thinking to yours. J-X makes a whole lot of sense… but its still scary.. If he really just likes the power/rush of 3 betting then that means his range is wide open right? I really like you train of thought here because you’re not going too many steps ahead of your opponents thought process, and it proved to be accurate. The scary part for me in these spots against these players who can show up with anything is that after certain amount of thinking it becomes a “am i ready to ride a rollercoaster tonight?”…. most often the answer is yes until i am on my 4th buy in. Just wondering if you takes this same line with K-J?
