My experience is different than what players have mentioned here. In Los Angeles, a lot of the $1/2 players are TERRIBLE while a lot of the $2/5 players are very seasoned. Doesn’t mean that you won’t find terrible $2/5 players, just that the players in general can be very different. Doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t move up either, just be clear to yourself on what you’re looking for in that game.
