Whats up Phil, what club in Texas do you play at? I’m a member at Rounder’s in San Antonio, and this game sounds like a game that would happen at Rounder’s lol. For your first hand, being that you thought V3 was done with his hand, I personally like betting after the flop. Many occasions I have won and lost with pocket pairs because of over cards on the board. For me, I would’ve bet around $20 to see where the others were at. If someone called I would most likely give up on the hand after that. However in some cases I might bet close to half pot on the river if I think my opponent was betting towards some draws.
For your second hand I like the betting size pre flop and post. However, since you know that these players have wide ranges, after the river club I think it’s definitely wise to check. If he has the flush he would probably bet decently big there. It’s hard to fold the straight so it your play makes sense, but I would recommend checking at least once to give yourself an idea what he might have.
