Wow, thanks a lot for your detailed thoughts Pat, that defenitely helps a lot!
I agree on most points, I would have played it the same as you suggest in hindsight I think.

3betting 83s pre flop is not my favorite move honestly, I think I can choose many better hands to do that with and even balance with hands that are better than this one. So I prefer the call there.

Jamming river would have been insane if it worked out, but like you said yourself, I don’t think this opponent was going anywhere with his straight. However, I think in this case we should look more to his range (with a lot of Kx) then this specific 76o, which he would not very often have in this spot.

Thanks again for you analysis, much appreciated!

    Cheers!

    Hi Dave,

about the set mining: you had to call an additional 22 in a pot of 70. Thereby, it is very likely that you get at least one other caller (especially when you call, so others have better odds obviously). So, I like set mining, also because you are deep.

I would have played flop just the same, you don’t have to protect from anything really. I prefer a call and hold everyone in the pot.

turn: It is a weird bet of 50 into 264 of the BB. The pot is 314 when it comes to you. Raising is the best option imo. Maybe you could have made it like 200-220 but i don’t think it makes that much difference.

river: I think it is really hard to get away from this. Only hands i would put the sb on is something like a strong broadway with the K of clubs.. just a horrible preflop and even more horrible flat on the flop by the sb imo.

All in all, I would have played it not very differently I think. Curious about what you would have done differently in hindsight.

    Cheers!

Thanks for your thoughts Steve. I like your suggestions very much actually. Maybe I shouldn’t be too scared of the river card with just 88 behind.. And indeed, he would never fold on a minraise so extra money in the pot is never bad in this situation.

Weak leading on the flop is also an option to consider next time.

    Thanks a lot!
    cheers!

    Thanks for the thoughts Look!
It wasn’t actually a donkbet since I checked it to him on the flop. I think a check raise on the flop as you suggested would not have been the best play in my opinion, since I do not want to scare him off on the flop already. I think betting out myself would have been better in hindsight.
The rest of your points I agree mostly,
    thanks again!
    Cheers
