I have 8, 9 of hearts and limp from the cutoff. We got 7 ways to flop of 10,J,Q. Ep bets 20.
Everyone except button has folded to the bet.
I call hoping to bring in the button player.
The button jams all in for 17 additional dollars.
Ep calls.
Button and Ep are friends ep feels bad about taking buttons money but this call signifies that ep has a hand too strong to let go even though he doesn’t want to bust his friend on the button.
I see the 17 raise and I raise it 45$ more. Ep has 300 left in his stack.
I weight Ep’s range towards two pairs.
Ep folds which he hinted at was A,Q.
The rest is irrelevant but the turn and river are bricks and the button shows king, 9 for a higher straight than me and I loose the pot.Did I play this hand wrong?! I really thought ep’s range was weighted towards two pair combos and I wanted to play for stacks.

Did I show too much strength and force the third player out. I’ll repaste hand history below. Thanks so much for helping me out, I really appreciate it.

Thanks for your response but I think you are a bit confused on the hand. EP folded to my re raise of 45 additional dollars. It was the button who was already all in that had K, 9, (thats why I said the rest was irrelevant). And I was wondering if this re raise was a mistake? Did I show too much strength and scare my opponent off?

07/26/2019 at 2:02 am #4389EthanParticipantThanks so much for your help. Opponent had k,j of hearts for the second nut flush which he flopped.
07/26/2019 at 2:01 am #4388EthanParticipantHow didi I play it?
06/08/2019 at 6:07 am #4285EthanParticipantThat makes a lot of sense
06/08/2019 at 6:05 am #4284EthanParticipantYa thanks Deekay, you da man!
06/03/2019 at 4:19 pm #4276EthanParticipantBro I would just show up on time and then play it by ear. You don’t have to start playing short handed if you don’t want to lol.
06/03/2019 at 12:30 pm #4275EthanParticipantIf I check call the flop and then bet turn wouldn’t the turn be my second street of value and the river my third?
I’m just trying to make sure we are on the same page. Do you think that and should check call flop, lead turn and if he calls lead river?
If so I think that makes sense but I’m just trying to make sure I am understanding correctly. Thanks so much for your help Deekay! I really appreciate it!
06/01/2019 at 5:25 pm #4273EthanParticipantOkay thanks, so since he raised to 20 pre and I called out of position I should check it to him on that flop, when he bets I should call. Then confirming I should lead turn and river for value? That’s three streets of value.
05/29/2019 at 9:00 am #4267EthanParticipantYes you are correct and I agree with checking the flop when i hit, however I was wondering if I check and he bets flop do I continue checking it to him on the turn?
Thanks!
05/29/2019 at 8:57 am #4266EthanParticipantI agree with you in the sense that I did not want to face a 4bet from a guy who would only be four betting with queens, kings, or aces. (I don’t even know what I would do facing a four bet, would I fold??) And I agree I should have checked it to him on the flop. However if he bets and I call to I check it to him on the turn aswell?
05/26/2019 at 5:29 pm #4250EthanParticipantYa I was worried he had a draw of some sort and I would let him hit. However there are way more worse hands he could have had to make a bet (kj, j10) with as opose to call a bet with. My mistake. I should have checked to him and that way it would also allow me to get value from a queen on the turn and river if he had one. Thanks for the advice as always greatly appreciated!
05/26/2019 at 12:54 pm #4241EthanParticipantWow you’re seeing a turn there for almost any price! Couldn’t the villian call a 3 bet with pocket 8s-Js and value cbet the flop?
