I think we need more information. How has this player been playing so far? How many people saw the flop? There are definite bet sizing issues in this hand that can be better broken down once we have the rest of the information.

You took the words right out of my keyboard, Kevin. I think the turn is a prime spot for a c/r. This board hits V’s range pretty hard. After he calls the flop, I am even more inclined to believe that all the sets and 2pair hands are there as well as a few draws. For all of the reasons you state above, I think this is a c/r on the turn.

For the river, I would have preferred a bet/fold over a check/call for sure, also for reasons you both stated above.

So, in summary, I have contributed nothing to this thread other than, “I agree.”

I generally will get up and take a walk outside for 10-15 minutes to think about how I am playing. As we all know, it can be pretty frustrating to keep whiffing flops or just not getting anything playable. I also try to use that to my advantage from a table perspective.

What I certainly don’t do enough is what 806er suggested above. This is a great time to be able to really focus on learning the tendencies of others at the table. When not in a hand, I like to play out how I think the action will go based on how I have ranged the players involved. This really gives a good insight into how other people play.

Thanks for giving me something else to think about 806er.

Thanks Charles. Yeah, I have to agree that there could be some pretty bad turn cards there. In hindsight, I think I like getting it in on the flop for the long term. This specific situation may allow for just a call, but overall that shouldn’t be my plan.

    Good insight, thanks a lot.

In my world, the turn is really the flop…not sure why I had turn stuck in my head there.

This is a pretty broad question that could be answered in a number of ways so I will just answer it for me.

It really depends on the table and the stakes that I am playing. In lower stake games, I will use a rough guideline as well as open up my ranges because I am confident that I will make less mistakes post flop than my opponents. In higher staked games, I will tighten up a bit and be more mindful of keeping to specific value and bluffing ranges.

What do you mean by opening up your range? Are you a winning player or break-even? I ask not to be condescending, but to suggest that maybe you are losing money post flop rather than pre. If that is the case, then opening up your pre-flop range will certainly cost you more in the long run by compounding mistakes.

Good luck, hope that helps a little.
