I think this really depends on the lineup and your skill level. In most of the lineups I’m in I feel like I’m a pretty solid favorite. When that’s the case I’m meticulous about staying topped up. I’ll keep chips in my pocket for it. I don’t want to miss out on the chance at a double up fully stacked against a fish. This approach has paid off many times. You don’t want to get AA vs KK and miss out on the monies.

As others have said, many times the players at 2/5 gave no more skill at 1/2. It really depends on the lineup. I’ve been at super soft 2/5 tables in Vegas and at others where I knew I was the Mark. Aggressive game selection will make the transition much easier. Don’t stay in a tough game.

    Steven,

I’m curious why you think 3x is the “correct size”? If I have AA and open to 5x or 6x and get called in 3 spots isn’t that good? At 1/2 if I see someone open to 3x, I laugh to myself and know they’re a fish. 3x isn’t going to thin the field at all. Anyone limping for 2 will call 6. So you don’t get protection for your big hands or much value from worse hands.
