That’s just called run bad. It wouldn’t have mattered what you bet, he is not going anywhere with top set. Nothing you can do.
Well I for sure remember the details of my beats a lot easier than my wins. I have a galaxy note for a phone and it comes with a stylist so I am able to hand write the notes fairly quickly while the next hand is being dealt.
In 1/2 it’s hard to get anybody off of their draws so when there is a raise that big he generally has at least top pair. In your situation, I would have checked again to allow the better to continue, so that you can decide if it’s a price you’re willing to pay to see your draw. By you putting the $50 in first, you are committing/investing that your draw will pay off. It would have been a good fold if you had checked first, but after you put the $50 in you should have been committed to the end, especially since I’m assuming that his raise was an all-in.
Yeah, I should have tried to obtain more information. One thing I forgot to add is that the button liked to play any Ace, no matter the kicker.
Thanks for the input!I’m ok with the call pre-flop as Jacks are pretty middle of the road. I think that you should have raised on the flop, simply to get more information. If they fold then, hey, you just made $100+ with Jacks. But depending if he calls or raises will give you a better sense of what they have.
I had a similar hand where I had Jacks and raised pre-flop to $30 and got reraised to $75. I made the call and the flop came 10 high. When he reraised pre, I put him on a better pocket pair or AK, but since I was first to act on the flop I knew I had to bet in order to know for sure. I bet $75 and he reraised completing his story. I folded and he showed Queens. Now that is a cooler, but when you allow them to get there by under repping your hand, well it’s not good play.
