In those situations how about take some secured money and play for something. If you do an ICM chop, would it be possible to take “x” off the top, ICM for the balance and play for the additional, Winner Takes All.
With him covering you, it probably comes down to ladder up consideration. It is certainly a cooler, but as you mentioned you lose to AA, any combination of AK and any two. The larger stack could be putting pressure on with a weaker Ace, but would he jeopardize 3/4 of his stack in that position, which he partially did, since he did not have a 2.
Since you will be able to pick off lower stacks yourself, it is possible to find a fold, although it is a tough lay down.
