I think your position was a huge factor in this hand. I believe you were in one of the blinds? 3-betting is one thing and 3-betting out of position is another thing. I think with any 3-bet out of position you must C-bet a really high percentage maybe 100%. What range are you representing? If your C-bet is called or raise, well then I guess you have information and you can proceed from there. If your inclined to want to check call or trap more often then I don’t see a problem with calling in this spot a fair amount of the time.

I think I would rather have an up and down than session than a just down session. At least you have something interesting happening along the way to the exit. Doesn’t sound like a donkey play if you had a hand. Sounds like you got more value than normal because he couldn’t slow down. That is his problem not yours. You dealt with the situation at hand as best you could, nothing wrong with that.

Hello El Paso from Collegeville, PA. I just signed on, my first post. Best Wishes with building that BR. Three hours to a casino? That makes my trip of 45min. seem like nothing. How often do you get to play?

About me: A week ago Thursday I was forced into “semi-retirement / career change”, Ya, I got fired! So I’m about to turn 55 and and I am now a dinosour in my former profession. I wish I could just turn to full-time grinding BUT that’s not a realistic plan alone. I have daughter A in college and daughter B in HS. Luckily my wife has a stable job and we plan to set ourselves up on her income and downsize for now. I am leaning towards starting my own sales company as that is what most people who have been in my spot in my profession do. I think this will actually give me some additional time to Grind and I am looking forward to that! I have played poker since the early 2000’s and always looking to learn more about a game that never fails to entertain me. Take Care!
